Simpson's Game-Winning Blast Gives Curve 3-2 Win in Extras

ERIE, Pa. - Chase Simpson blasted a go-ahead home run in the tenth as the Altoona Curve defeated the Erie SeaWolves, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Park.

The Curve (11-8) took two out of three games against the SeaWolves (9-9) to close out the road trip.

Simpson hit the tie-breaking homer, his second of the year, off of Paul Voeker (Loss, 0-1) to lead off the top of the tenth inning on an 0-2 pitch.

Montana DuRapau (Win, 2-0) closed out the game with a 1-2-3 bottom of the tenth.

Erie took a 1-0 lead against Tanner Anderson in the first inning on an RBI single by Christin Stewart. The Curve answered with an RBI single by Jordan Luplow to tie the score at 1-1 in the fourth inning.

The Curve jumped in front with an RBI groundout by Chris Diaz in the sixth.

The SeaWolves tied the game a solo homer Gabriel Quintana on the first pitch thrown by Jared Lakind in the top of the seventh inning.

Anderson went six innings and allowed one run on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts in his fourth start, dropping his ERA to 2.01.

Luplow finished the game 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

After a day off on Thursday, the Curve return home to face the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night. Right-hander Austin Coley (0-0, 2.76) will start on the mound for Altoona, opposed by Harrisburg right-hander Mark Blackmar (2-1, 4.15). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
