Simpson Reassigned To Toledo

January 23, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Rockford IceHogs News Release


Rockford, Ill. - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Wednesday that the Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned goaltender Kent Simpson from the AHL's Rockford IceHogs to the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.

The 20-year-old netminder appeared in one contest for Rockford, taking a loss in Rockford's 6-3 defeat to Texas on Monday.

Thus far on the campaign, the rookie goalie has appeared in 20 tilts for Toledo, posting a record of 8-8-0-3 with a goals against average of 2.85 and a .885 save percentage.

Last season, the Blackhawks' 2010 second-round draft choice (#58 overall) made his professional debut in Rockford's season finale against Charlotte, taking a 4-3 shootout loss, but also setting an IceHogs rookie record for saves in a loss with 38.

Before turning pro, the Edmonton, Alberta native played for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League, posting a 71-71-10-21 record in 175 contests.

Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 25 vs. Chicago Wolves. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Rockford and Chicago meet in an Illinois Lottery Cup matchup at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 2,500 fans to the game will pick up an IceHogs fleece blanket courtesy of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
