Sim Clears Waivers, Loaned to Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn (Nov. 2, 2010) - The New York Islanders announced today that forward Jon Sim has cleared waivers and has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Sim, 33, appeared in 11 games with the Islanders in the early portion of the season and tallied one assist and 10 penalty minutes. This marks his second stint with the Sound Tigers after recording 10 goals and 13 assists in just 18 games during the 2008-09 season. The New Glasgow, NS native has played for 11 teams between the NHL and AHL and has a combined 298 points in 610 games within the two leagues. In addition to his solid offensive numbers, Sim has won at both levels. The veteran forward was a member of the Dallas Stars when they won the Stanley Cup during the 1998-99 season, as well as a member of the Philadelphia Phantoms when they won the Calder Cup in 2004-05.
