Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) of the Western Hockey League and the league announced today that U. of Manitoba forward Remi Laurencelle, who skated with the Silvertips from 2014-16, has been named to the Canada West All-Rookie Team.

Laurencelle, 21, was tied second in scoring with Manitoba, collecting 22 points while ranking second in assists (15) in 24 games. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward skated in 260 career WHL games with the Silvertips and Lethbridge Hurricanes, collecting 131 points and a +9 rating.

The native of Winnipeg led the Silvertips last season with 58 points and 28 goals in 69 games, also posting five points in nine postseason games. He earned the 46th hat trick, all-time in Silvertips when he buried four goals and finished with six points, one shy of tying the club's single game point record, on Dec. 16, 2015 in a win against the Spokane Chiefs.

Silvertips Alumni can be followed on Twitter @TipsAlumni.

In total, 16 of the 18 combined all-stars and all-rookies are graduates of the WHL, while the two players who didn't lace up in Western Canada's premier junior circuit are products of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

The 16 WHL graduates are making the most of their WHL Scholarship, which provides players with tuition, compulsory fees, and textbooks for each season played in the WHL.

The Canada West all-stars and all-rookies were selected by the conference's eight head coaches, who also voted on the Canada West major awards, which will be unveiled Thursday, March 2 at 1 p.m. PT.
