Silver Knights Selected as Small Business of the Year

Nashua, NH - The Nashua Silver Knights were awarded the 2016 Small Business of the Year by the Nashua Chamber of Commerce on February 15, 2017 at the Eminence Awards Luncheon. Other finalists for the award were Alec Shoes and Etchstone Properties. Congratulations on your nomination and congratulations to the winners of the other categories.

The Nashua Silver Knights had another great season of baseball at Historic Holman Stadium, both on the field and off the field. The Silver Knights, the baseball team, captured their third championship in six seasons. The Silver Knights, the business, saw their best performance in the team's history when it came to the books.

They saw 10% increase in attendance, acquired many new business partnerships with local businesses and maintained a presence in the community.

The Nashua Silver Knights organization has worked very hard to build community relationships with local businesses and organizations in and around the Nashua region. We have enjoyed being partners with wonderful organizations such as The United Way, Great American Downtown, and Salvation Army. We have developed reading initiatives with several city schools and just this year has started a Pen Pal program with Nashua High School students and residents of the Hunt Community and the Huntington at Nashua. We have helped local non-profits raise thousands of dollars for their causes with our fundraising ticket packages and awareness nights at the ballpark. Last year we hosted an Alzheimer's Awareness night as well as a Suicide Prevention night to help support walks for those causes.

With our latest championship, we wanted to give back in a new way to our wonderful city and so we held championship ring raffles and split the proceeds with Nashua PAL and the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter. We have been a supporting sponsor for city events like the Gate City Marathon and our local Lil' Iguana's color run since the Inaugural years. We have recently signed on to help plan and fundraise for our local Habitat for Humanity's Women's Build Week in May of 2017. The Nashua Silver Knights are committed to being an active part in the city of Nashua as well as our surrounding communities and love being part of so many fabulous events the region has to offer. We thank you for this nomination and look forward to another great year in Nashua.

The Silver Knights are the 2011, 2012 and 2016 Champions of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England. The 2017 season will open on Friday, June 2nd with a pre-game ring ceremony and a post-game fireworks display!
