Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

BROOKLYN, NY -- Municipal Credit Union (MCU) has opened registration for the third annual free MCU Youth Baseball/Softball Clinic Series. The clinics, which are open to children 7 - 14 years of age, will be held on Monday, June 20 (which is Michael Conforto Day at the Brooklyn Cyclones game); Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, August 24 at MCU Park in Coney Island. Each participant will also receive four tickets to that evening's Brooklyn Cyclones game.

Brooklyn Cyclones players will serve as volunteer coaches for the clinics and lead the participants in on-field hands-on exercises including in fielding drills, running, throwing, and injury prevention/ stretching.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with MCU for the Youth Baseball/Softball Clinics. As an organization, we pride ourselves on being active members within our community while also helping to grow the game of baseball with young people throughout the city. This program helps accomplish both of those goals, while also providing kids with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the same field that many current major leaguers, including Michael Conforto and Juan Lagares, once played on," said Steve Cohen, Cyclones Vice President.

There is a limit of 100 participants per clinic, and participation will be on a first come, first serve basis.

"MCU is proud to host our third annual Youth Baseball/Softball Clinic series at MCU Park this summer," said MCU President/CEO Kam Wong. "We are honored to work with the Brooklyn Cyclones in order to give back to the New York City community in a unique and fun way for young baseball and softball players. I am extremely pleased at how well received this program has been by the community and the kids, and we know this year's clinics will be great fun for everyone involved."

The Youth Baseball and Softball Clinic Series is part of MCU's corporate commitment to giving back to the communities in which it serves, in particular the youth of the community. Since launching in 2014, hundreds of children and their families from across the New York City area have come to Coney Island to participate in the clinics.

2016 is Municipal Credit Union's Centennial Celebration year. Called the Credit Union of Employees Conference Committee when it first opened its doors on October 15, 1916 in Manhattan's Municipal Building, MCU has been growing strong ever since. Today, MCU serves more than 385,000 members. MCU is celebrating its 100th anniversary all during 2016 through various programs to give back to the communities it serves. Its support of the MCU Youth Baseball/Softball Clinics is one of MCU's Centennial Celebration initiatives, which also include its 100 Acts of Kindness initiative, MCU Day at Coney Island to be held in July, and initiatives to recognize employees and members.
