Shuckers and Lookouts Suspended by Rain Tuesday

April 18, 2017 - Southern League (SL1)
Biloxi Shuckers News Release

CHATTANOOGA, TN - One pitch into the top of the third inning on Tuesday night, heavy rains and lightning hit AT&T Field in Chattanooga. After a 40 minute delay, the game was suspended and will resume on Wednesday at 4:15 pm CT. The contest will be completed through nine innings with a seven-inning game to follow. Biloxi starter Jorge Lopez tossed two scoreless frames, working around leadoff hits in each inning. The right-hander was making his first appearance on the mound at AT&T Field since game five of the Southern League Championship Series in 2015. The Shuckers lost the deciding game to the Lookouts, 4-0. Angel Ortega took a ball from Chattanooga starter Matt Tracy to start the third inning, and that will be where the game picks up on Wednesday. The Lookouts collected three hits in the game and Biloxi had yet to get in the hit column. Wednesday's regularly scheduled game will feature RHP Taylor Williams on the mound for the Shuckers and RHP Fernando Romero for the Lookouts. Coverage will begin on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 at 4:00 pm CT with the Beau Rivage Pregame Show. The game will also be available at biloxishuckers.com and TuneIn Radio. The Shuckers will return home to begin a five-game series against the Jackson (TN) Generals (Arizona) on Saturday, April 22. On Saturday, the Shuckers will partner with March of Dimes for a benefit jersey auction. The jersey features a unique aquatic design, showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was designed by Ocean Springs tattoo artist Matt Stebly. Saturday also features the second fireworks show of the season. The homestand continues with Family Fun Day and a ZOOperstars! performance on April 23, Bark in the Park presented by Raising Cane's on April 24 and the first Education Day of the year on April 26.
