SHOT STRAIGHT TO THE GUTTMAN

Madison Capitols News Release
MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols dropped a 3-1 decision to the Dubuque Fighting Saints at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena on Friday night.
Madison (6-8-0-1) is ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with 13 points. Dubuque (6-5-2-1) is tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 15 points.
Center Cole Guttman capitalized on a miscommunication to record his fifth goal of the season at 7:34 of the final frame. Center Alexander Steeves halted a clearing attempt from the Capitols defense. Steeves carried the puck into the left face-off circle before centering it to Guttman between the hash marks. Guttman beat goaltender Dryden McKay on the blocker side to give Dubuque the 2-1 advantage.
Dubuque jumped on the board at 13:03 of the first period with right wing Tyce Thompson's third goal of the season. Left wing Taylor Schneider slid the puck over to center Adam Tisdale in the high slot. Tisdale found Thompson to his left, in the top of the face-off circle, for the snipe into the net and a 1-0 lead.
Defenseman Colin Felix scored his first USHL goal at 18:46 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Left wing Mick Messner carried the puck down center ice and handed it off to center Michael Mancinelli who was skating down the left wing with Messner. Mancinelli quickly found Felix in the right face-off circle for the snap shot into the top of the net and the tying goal.
Schneider picked up an insurance goal for the Fighting Saints with his first tally of the season at 17:15 of the third period. Right wing Bauer Neudecker carried the puck down the right wing and centered it to Tisdale between the hash marks. Tisdale slid a pass over to Schneider in the left face-off circle for the one-timer and the goal.
McKay (5-6-1) suffered his sixth loss of the season stopping 27-of-30 shots. Fighting Saints goaltender Cole Weaver (2-0-0) earned his second win of the season making 14 saves on 15 shots.
Madison was 0-for-2 on the power play. Dubuque went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
Notables: Madison is 0-2-0-0 against Dubuque this season...Defenseman Colin Felix scored his first USHL goal...Felix was one assist shy of a Gordie Howe Hat Trick...The Capitols filled their hockey nets with non-perishable food for Middleton Outreach Ministry.
