Shorebirds knock off Suns 14-1

Hagerstown, MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds came to Memorial Stadium on Wednesday and beat the Hagerstown Suns 14-1.
Delmarva scored six runs in the top of the first inning, effectively ending the game as Hagerstown failed to score against Shorebirds' starter Cole McCurry.
McCurry (1-0) lasted six innings, allowed only two hits and struck out four Hagerstown hitters without allowing a run to earn the win.
Jeff Mandel (4-7) took the loss for the Suns, allowing eight earned runs.
The Shorebirds scored in every inning except the 8th, including two runs in the top of the 7th inning and a home run by Michael Pierce in the 3rd.
Robby Tolan scored the lone run for Hagerstown on a Trevor Lawhorn double in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Joe Welsh, Devin Drag and Buzz Vargas pitched the final six innings for Hagerstown, allowing a combined six runs and six hits.
