Shock Add Holmes to Roster

February 18, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DL Louis Holmes has been added to the 2011 roster.

Holmes, 6-5 250, spent the last two seasons in the UFL with the Sacramento Mountain Lions. In eight games, Holmes recorded 12 tackles and three forced fumbles.

Before joining the Mountain Lions, Holmes gained NFL experience with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers. As a member Buccaneers in 2009, Holmes recorded two sacks, six tackles, two pass deflections, and one forced fumble in four preseason games.

"Louis fits the mold of the defensive lineman that we look for," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "He has the size and the speed for the Arena game. When you combine that with his NFL experience, you have the makings of a player who can be very successful in the AFL."

During his four-year collegiate career, at Scottsdale Community College and the University of Arizona, Holmes recorded 265 tackles with 22 sacks.

Holmes and the rest of the Shock open Training Camp tomorrow. Spokane opens the regular season on March 11th in San Jose against the SaberCats. The Shock will return to Spokane the following week to host the Cleveland Gladiators on March 19th. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
