Sherman Johnson Homers Twice in Bees Loss

SALT LAKE CITY - The Bees fell 14 to 3 on Friday night to the Round Rock Express. Zach Nuding tossed four and two-third innings, striking out his Triple-A high nine batters. Nuding was tagged for seven runs yet only four were earned. The Salt Lake defense allowed three errors, tying their season high last set on August 6th against the Reno Aces.

The Bees offense was led by Quintin Berry (2-for-4) and Sherman Johnson (2-for-4, two home runs). Tonight was Johnson's second two-home run game of the season. Berry added to his PCL stolen base lead with a steal of second in the first inning for his 34th swipe of the season. Chone Figgins set the Salt Lake franchise record in 2003 at 39 steals, Berry needs just six more in his next 23 games to break the record. As a team, the Bees have recorded a league-high 155 steals. Salt Lake will take on the Express for game two of the four-game set tomorrow night beginning at 6:35 pm. Left-hander Nate Smith (7-6, 4.74 ERA) will face Michael Roth. Tomorrow the Bees will host their third annual Daddy Daughter Date Night. A special ticket package is available for purchase for only $15 that includes your ticket to the game, a hot dog and a drink. Following the game fans can enjoy princess themed fireworks show presented by Larry H. Miller Dodge Ram Sandy.
