Shawn Withy-Allen named af2 Offensive Player of the Week

HONOLULU – The offices of arenafootball2 league today named Hawaiian Islanders quarterback Shawn Withy-Allen as Baby Ruth Real Deal National Offensive Player of the Week.

In HawaiiÂ’s 62-59 win over the Louisville Fire Saturday night, Withy-Allen completed 24-of-33 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns. He set three Hawaiian Islanders records that night: Total offensive yards in a game (374), completions (24) and passing percentage. (.727)

In his three starts this season, Withy-Allen completed 66-of-101 passes (65 percent) for 884 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also has 68 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Withy-Allen is the second Islander player to receive a national award. In week 8, Josh Robinson won the ADT National Defensive Player of the Week back on May 25.

With the win Saturday night, the Islanders (8-6) remain two games behind Bakersfield (10-4) with two games to play. Hawaii can win the division with a win over Central Valley (1-13) this weekend and a Bakersfield loss to San Diego. Hawaii travels to Bakersfield in the final regular season game July 31.
