December 13, 2016 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Clearwater Threshers News Release

The Philadelphia Phillies have announced their 2017 player development field staff. Shawn Williams ascends to manage the Clearwater Threshers after leading Lakewood to the South Atlantic League Championship Series in 2016. It will be his fourth season as a manager in the Phillies system. Rob Ducey will begin his fourth year with the Phillies and third straight as coach for the Threshers, while Aaron Fultz returns for his second year as Clearwater pitching coach.

Prior to taking the helm of Lakewood in 2015, Williams previously was the manager in Williamsport (A) in 2014 after serving as a player/coach for the club in 2013. He played four seasons in Tampa Bay's minor-league system from 2007-2010. The former infielder also played independent ball in the American Association in 2006, the Can Am League from 2010-11, and the Atlantic League in 2010 and 2012. His father, Jimy Williams, was a manager with the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox and was the Phillies bench coach for the 2007-08 seasons.

Greg Legg, who managed the Threshers for the previous two seasons in 2014-15, returns to manage Reading (AA) in 2016. Legg led Clearwater to back-to-back best records in the Florida State League and won the FSL Manager of the Year award in 2015.
