Sharks Sign Veteran DB Erik McIntosh

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that veteran defensive back Erick McIntosh has signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2017 season.

Erick McIntosh (5'11",175) will enter his first season with the Jacksonville Sharks and his seventh season playing arena football. Throughout his arena career, the defensive back has combined for 319 tackles, 65 pass breakups and 12 interceptions. During his six year career, he spent three season with the Tampa Bay Storm, one season with the Iowa Barnstormers and spent his last two seasons with the Orlando Predators.

In 2015, McIntosh made 31 tackles in ten games with Sharks rival, the Orlando Predators. McIntosh was key in a win over the Sharks in 2014, pounding the Sharks with a season high six tackles. That year he started in four games, racking up 21 total tackles and two pass breakups.

He played for the Iowa Barnstormers in 2013, playing in 13 regular season games, contributing with 51 tackles, four interceptions. McIntosh set the bar high in his second season with the Storm, leading the team in tackles (102) and tied in interceptions (4) in 2011. In his first year playing arena football, he amassed 40 tackles and two interceptions in 2010 with the Storm.

McIntosh played college football at Florida Atlantic University from 2005-2009. In his senior year, he complied 53 tackles and started in four games. During his freshman year, the Owls and McIntosh traveled to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl, where they beat Central Michigan 24-21. The victory was school's second ever bowl appearance.

McIntosh is a native of Fort Myers, FL where he attended Lehigh Senior High School.
