Sharks Add Two Kentucky Wildcats to Roster

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that they have signed lineman Melvin Lewis and Michael Douglas for the upcoming 2017 season.

Melvin Lewis (6'4",332) will enter his first season in arena football, playing for the Jacksonville Sharks this upcoming season. The former Kentucky Wildcat started all 12 games his junior year as a defensive lineman accumulating 37 tackles and two for loss including a season high of nine tackles against LSU. Prior to his time as a Wildcat, Lewis began his college career at Fullerton College in California, where he made first-team all-state and all-Southern Conference his sophomore year. That same year in 2013 he totalled 41 tackles, six for loss and three sacks.

Lewis is a native of Compton, California where he played offensive and defensive line at Compton High School. Lewis earned All-Conference honors in football and also basketball during high school career.

Mike Douglas (6'4",293) will begin his first season in arena football as a defensive lineman for the Jacksonville Sharks. Douglas also attended the University of Kentucky, where recorded 89 tackles, six for loss, five pass breakups, four sacks and two fumble recoveries. Douglas saw action in all 12 regular season games and recorded 28 tackles, two pass breakups, a sack and a fumble in 2013. The 6'4 defensive tackle average three or more tackles in six games with the Wildcats during his explosive 2013 season. In 2012, Douglas played in all 12 games at defensive tackle and on special teams landing 12 tackles with Wildcats.

Douglas is a native of Key Largo, FL where played at Largo High School earning All-Conference, All-County and All-District his senior season. Douglas helped Largo High School to Class state playoff appearances during each of his four years at Largo High.

In addition to the two lineman, Sharks added offensive lineman Bradley Clapsaddle to the 2017 training camp roster. Bradley Clapsaddle (6'2,310) will enter his first rookie season in a arena football. Clapsaddle spent his college career at Mount Union college where he played defensive line. A native of Jacksonville, FL, Clapsaddle attended Paxon High School where he earned varsity letters in both football and baseball.
