Sharks Add DL Rakeem Knight

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive lineman Rakeem Knight signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2017 season.

Rakeem Knight (6'2", 325) will enter his rookie season with the Jacksonville Sharks. Prior to joining the Sharks, Knight was an NFL free agent who participated in the 2015 New York Giants Rookie Minicamp. Knight spent his college career at Bethune-Cookman University from 2011-2014. During his senior year, Knight saw action in 11 regular season games, creating a total of 36 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and two sacks.

His junior year, Knight combined for 22 total tackles, 4.5 for a loss and one forced fumble in his 10 games with BCU. In 2012, Knight played in 10 games, starting in two as a sophomore for the Bobcats. Knight helped the team to a undefeated conference record (8-0 MEAC) and a 9-3 overall record, while posting 11 tackles, 4.5 for a loss, and one forced fumble. As a freshman, Knight appeared in nine games, recording five tackles and two tackles for a loss.

The Birmingham, Alabama native lettered in both football and basketball at Restoration Academy. During his senior year he helped his team to an 8-4 record and a appearance in the state playoffs. Before graduating, Knight was selected as an All-State, All-County, All-Metro offensive lineman and played in the AISA All-Star Game.
