Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The 2013 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that wide receiver Shamar Graves has been assigned to the team's roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A member of the Sharks' receiving corps in 2012, the 26-year-old Graves (6'3", 235) began the 2013 season with the Pittsburgh Power. Graves appeared in three games as a member of the Power, catching 19 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Graves battled through injury during his stint in Pittsburgh, spending time on injured reserve on two separate occasions. The Power placed Graves on reassignment on July 12.

As a Shark in 2012, Graves played in 14 regular-season games, making five starts. He caught a total of 29 passes for 261 yards and seven touchdowns, finishing as the team's fifth-leading receiver. His average of 12.4 yards per catch ranked second on the team. Graves scored two touchdowns in the 2012 season opener at Kansas City, then put together a five-catch, 126-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Soul in Week 10.

Before beginning his professional career, Graves played at Rutgers University from 2006-09. During his four-year career with the Scarlet Knights, Graves worked primarily at tight end, totaling 33 receptions for 407 yards and five touchdowns. Graves is a native of Woodbridge, New Jersey.

The Sharks also announced Thursday that defensive back Terrance Smith has been placed on inactive reserve. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the AFL maximum of 24 active players.
