Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (18-15) scored seven runs, all with two outs in the bottom of the second inning, and got a magnificent performance from their starter Jose Mujica (2-2), who went eight innings to help secure a 7-1 win over the Lookouts (18-16) Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Mujica allowed just one run on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts in those eight innings of work becoming the first Biscuits starter to throw that many innings in a game this season. It's the third time this season that he's gone at least seven innings and hasn't allowed more than a run.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Biscuits brought across seven-runs against Chattanooga starter Matt Tracy (2-3) who went just three innings and earned a loss. Justin O' Conner lead-off with a double to left and advanced to second on a Nathan Lukes groundout before his teammate Alec Sole struck out for the second out of the inning. Andrew Velazquez continued the inning by drawing a walk and then Braxton Lee drove-in a run on a ground ball hit to third to put the Biscuits up 1-0. Michael Russell brought across a run off a single to right and then Joe McCarthy stepped up and drew a walk before Cade Gotta extended his hit streak to six games with a two-run single to right to put the Biscuits up 4-0. Grant Kay, in his second at-bat of the inning, would single home McCarthy to make it a five-run game and extend his hitting streak to seven-straight games. Justin O'Conner would blast a bases-clearing double, his second of the inning, to put the game out of reach.

Lee extended his on-base streak to 20 games after earning a base hit in the second of tonight's contest, while Nick Gordon's 21 game on-base streak came to a close. Lee is now one shy of tying Gordon for the Southern League lead in that category.

O'Conner finished the night going 2-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Tracy allowed seven runs on nine hits with three walks and struck out four in those three innings and it's' the second time this season he allowed more than five runs in a start.

The series finale will begin Friday night when right-hander Tyler Brashears (0-0) takes the hill against righty Jorge Felix (3-1) at 7:05 PM.
