Septimo Set to Rehab with Knights Beginning Tonight

(Fort Mill, SC) - LHP Leyson Septimo, who began last season with the Charlotte Knights and started this season on the Chicago White Sox disabled list, will begin a Major League Baseball rehab assignment tonight when the Knights host the Norfolk Tides at 7:15 p.m. at Knights Stadium. Septimo is recovering from a left shoulder strain and has not pitched yet this season.

Tonight's game features the third "Flashback Friday" promotion of the season. Charlotte Knights players will wear special 1990 throwback jerseys and the first 1,000 fans will receive a retro baseball card set.

A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Septimo posted a 2-1 record with a 1.31 ERA in 24 games for the Knights last season. He also appeared in 21 games for the White Sox in 2012 and went 0-2 with a 5.02 ERA. The 27-year-old southpaw limited opponents to a .157 batting average.

Septimo was originally signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks on February 19, 2003 as a position player. In 426 at-bats over five Minor League seasons, Septimo produced a .254 batting average with 15 home runs and 160 RBIs. He was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from Arizona on June 13, 2011.
