Senators Snap Three-Game Losing Streak with 6-3 Win

The Senators used three two-run innings and strong pitching to beat the Bowie Baysox 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Senators avoided the weekend sweep. Harrisburg is now 7-9 on the season while Bowie falls to 8-9.

Five Senators pitchers combined on the win with newly signed Jaron Long starting for the Senators and pitching the first 3.2 innings. Andrew Robinson followed and earned the win against his former teammates pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. Bryan Harper pitched two scoreless innings before turning things over to Derek Self. Self allowed two runs in the ninth inning before giving way to Juan Gutierrez who retired Trey Mancini to finish the game and earn his second save on the season.

The Senators scored two in the first on a single by Chris Bostick and a double by Brenden Webb. In the fourth, they plated two more when Zach Collier drove in a run with a single and Stephen Perez followed with a sacrifice fly. They tacked on two more in the fifth when Shawn Pleffner doubled in Wilmer Difor, then advanced to third on a wild pitch, then scored on a wild pitch.

Pleffner and Bostick both had two hits while five different Senators drew a pair of walks in the game. The Senators also had three more doubles in the game.

After an off day on Monday, the Senators start a three-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday night. The Senators will be the visiting team in the series.
