Senators Introduce Mann to City of Belleville

August 7, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The Belleville Senators officially introduced new head coach Troy Mann to the city of Belleville Tuesday morning at a press conference held at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

Mann was previously named the second head coach in Senators history on June 25 but was officially introduced to the city in front of members of city council, sponsors, staff and fans Tuesday.

"One of the founding principals to our organization is the pursuit of excellence and when we talk about that commitment the first place you have to talk about is your head coach," Belleville COO Rob Mullowney said. "We are very excited to welcome Troy to our team today.

"What's most exciting for us as an organization is Troy's track record of success and it speaks to the quality of the person we now have leading our team."

Mann, 48, spent the last four seasons as the head coach of the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. While there, he coached nine members of this year's cup-winning Capitals team and led the Bears to two Atlantic Division titles and a trip to the 2016 Calder Cup Finals, posting a 162-102-22-18 record over 304 regular season games. He presently ranks sixth in all-time head coaching victories for Hershey. He also served as an assistant coach with Hershey from 2009-10 to 2012-13, during which time the Bears claimed the 2010 Calder Cup. His contract with the Senators is a two-year agreement and will run through the 2019-20 season.

"From my perspective it is an honour to be a head coach in the American Hockey League," Mann said. "Many people say the AHL is the second best league in the world and I tend to agree with them and I want to thank the Ottawa Senators for giving me an opportunity within their organization.

"This is a new challenge and I am looking forward to it."

The Senators open their 2018-19 season Oct. 6 with a trip to Utica and will play its home-opener on Oct. 17 against Binghamton. Season tickets, half-season and partial-game plans are currently available by visiting www.bellevillesens.com or directly at the team's office via telephone at 613-967-8067 or by email at seasontickets@bellevillesens.com.
