Worcester Sharks News Release

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr is pleased to announce that Tuesday evening's 2nd Annual "Evening with the Worcester Sharks" presented by Bay State Savings Bank raised thousands of dollars to benefit the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Project, a charity that aids abused and neglected children in Worcester County; and Worcester Sharks Charities.

In an effort to help enhance the lives of residents through Central Massachusetts, the Worcester Sharks invited fans to partner in this tremendous effort through the 2nd Annual "Evening with the Worcester Sharks" presented by Bay State Savings Bank. Sharks players, executives, and Worcester's own former WBA Welterweight Champion Jose Antonio Rivera joined fans for the unique fundraising event on Tuesday at the Bocado Restaurant located in Downtown Worcester.

"We were thrilled again to partner with Bay State Savings Bank to raise funds and awareness for the CASA Project, said Lehr. "Fans were treated to an unforgettable experience having been served and entertained by our players at Bocado. We look forward to more great events like this in the future as the Sharks continue to give back to the community."

All proceeds of the Evening were donated to the CASA Project, the most recent honoree of Bay State Savings Bank's Champions for Children program, and Worcester Sharks Charities. The CASA Project recruits, screens, trains and supervises community volunteers who are appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of children whose families are facing allegations of abuse and neglect. The CASA Project serves on care and protection cases in Worcester Juvenile Court and sessions held in the District Courts of Dudley, Milford, Fitchburg and Leominster.

The special evening included dinner at one of Worcester's outstanding restaurants, auctions on some great sports memorabilia, player experiences, and entertainment packages. Sharks players served as honorary waiters and bartenders.

The Worcester Sharks thank everyone involved that helped raised money for the CASA Project and made the event a tremendous success!
