SeaWolves Drop Seventh Straight

The SeaWolves were swept by the Harrisburg Senators following a 7-6 loss on Sunday at Jerry Uht Park. The 'Wolves have now lost seven straight games.

The Senators got on the board in the top of the first inning against SeaWolves starter Jon Connolly. Roger Bernadina led off the game with a triple and with one out, scored on a Justin Maxwell base hit for a 1-0 lead. Luis Jimenez then homered over the wall in left, giving Harrisburg a 3-0 advantage. With two outs, Ofilio Castro singled and was brought home on an Andrew LeFave double for a 4-0 lead.

Harrisburg added a run in the top of the second to go ahead 5-0 when Marco Yepez led off with a triple and scored on a Bernadina base hit.

Erie cut into the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Caonabo Cosme led off with a single and with one out, Kody Kirkland singled to put runners on the corners for Will Rhymes. Rhymes doubled to left, scoring a pair, making it a 5-2 game.

The ‘Wolves inched closer in the top of the fourth inning when Wilkin Ramirez led off with his eighth home run of the season over the wall in center to make it a 5-3 game.

Momentum seemed to be on the side of the SeaWolves heading into the sixth, but Harrisburg would add two more runs. Castro led off with a single and LeFave walked. After Connolly retired the next two, Bernadina singled home both runners to make it 7-3.

The lead remained four for the Senators into the eighth inning. With one out, Max Leon and Deik Scram singled to put a pair on for Ramirez. Ramirez connected on a double, plating a pair, making it a two-run game once again at 7-5. Then the skies opened up and a downpour forced a 56-minute rain delay. When play resumed, Justin Justice doubled off the wall in right, scoring Ramirez to make it a 7-6 game. The ‘Wolves however, would get no closer as Harrisburg closer Zech Zinicola tossed a scoreless ninth to end the game.

Connolly (0-2) took the loss going six innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits with three walks and a strikeout.
