Seattle Reign FC Midfielder Kim Little Voted NWSL Player of the Week

April 26, 2016 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) News Release

CHICAGO - Seattle Reign FC midfielder Kim Little was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 2 of the 2016 NWSL season.

Little, 25, had a goal and two assists to lead Reign FC to their fifth-straight road victory in a 3-0 win over the Boston Breakers on Sunday. The five consecutive away wins are a new NWSL record.

The Mintlaw, Scotland native had a hand in all three goals against the Breakers and helped get things started for Seattle in the 10th minute when she received the ball in a pocket of space inside the Boston penalty box before playing the ball to forward Manon Melis to lob over goalkeeper Libby Stout. The 2014 NWSL MVP then played a part in doubling Seattle's lead in the 39th minute when she whipped in a corner kick that found Rachel Corsie at the near post for the defender to redirect into the net. The goal was Seattle's first from a corner this season after scoring a league-best nine goals from corner kicks in 2015. (Assist - Watch highlights)

The Scotland international got her name onto the score sheet for a third time with a goal of her own in the 79th minute to remove all doubt about the result as she made a smart run into the box before receiving the ball from forward Beverly Yanez. Little then took a touch before tucking a left-footed shot past Stout and inside the far post for her first goal of the year. (Goal - Watch highlights)

It is the second time Little has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week. She has been voted Player of the Month four times in her NWSL career, but her only previous Player of the Week accolade came in Week 19 last season. It is the 10th time a member of the Reign has won the award.

Seattle Reign FC will return to action Sunday, May 1 at 7 p.m. ET against FC Kansas City at Memorial Stadium in Seattle. Tickets to the match are available at reignfc.com/fckc or by calling (855) REIGN-FC.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of press that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
