VAL-D'OR, QC - The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled goalie Matthew Williams from the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL).

Williams, who turned 19 in February, played 32 games in his second season in Summerside, posting a record of 14-13-4 with a 3.52 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. He went 2-2 in five playoff games, with a 2.92 goals-against average and .920 save percentage. The Capitals were eliminated from the postseason on the weekend by the Miramichi Timberwolves in the Eastlink North Division Final.

The native of Truro, Nova Scotia, appeared in four preseason games for Saint John this year, and dressed as the backup for the team's final two regular season games last month. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Sea Dogs before the start of the 2015-16 season, and played in one regular season game last year.

Williams joined the Sea Dogs prior to the team's departure for Val-d'Or to continue their QMJHL President Cup quarterfinal series. Saint John lead the best-of-seven matchup, 2-0. Game 3 is tonight at 8:30 p.m. at Centre Air Creebec.
