SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled goalie Matt Williams from the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL).

The move came as goalie Alex D'Orio departed for Quebec City to participate in the 2017 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game next week.

Williams, 18, is in his second season with Summerside. In 26 games, he has a record of 12-10-2 with a 3.27 goals-against average and .903 save percentage.

The native of Truro, Nova Scotia, appeared in four preseason games for Saint John this year, and played in one regular season game last year. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Sea Dogs before the start of the 2015-16 season.

Williams is expected to join the Sea Dogs for games today in Moncton and tomorrow in Charlottetown.
