Sea Dogs drop a pair to Binghamton, 5-2 and 6-0

Portland Sea Dogs News Release
(Binghamton, NY) - The Binghamton Mets (57-35) swept a doubleheader from the Portland Sea Dogs (46-46) on Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton won the opener 5-2 and took the nightcap 6-0. Portland has dropped three of four in the series, which concludes on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1 Recap
The Mets scored five runs in the first inning off Terry Doyle (0-2) and never looked back, wining 5-2. Lefty Darin Gorski (3-0) tossed six strong innings on three hits and two runs to earn the win. Jeff Walters pitched a perfect seventh for his 24th save of the season
Binghamton sent all nine to the plate in the first. Cesar Puello drove in the first run with an RBI single. Rhyne Hughes added a sac-fly and Wilfredo Tovar cleared the bases with a three-run double.
Portland got on the board in the second, cutting the deficit to 5-1 on Kolbrin Vitek's sac-fly.
Christian Vazquez continued his hot hitting, nailing a run-scoring single in the fifth inning, making it 5-2 Binghamton. Vazquez has hit safely in seven straight games, and picked up his 13th multi-hit game of the season.
Doyle earned a complete game in the loss, allowing seven hits and 5 runs over 6 IP.

Game 2 Recap
RHP Jenrry Mejia tossed five scoreless frames in a MLB Rehab Assignment and the Mets scored in two innings off RHP Jeremy Kehrt (0-3) to win the nightcap 6-0.
Mejia allowed three hits on two walks and strikeout. Hamilton Bennett closed out the win with two scoreless frames.
Kehrt gave up six runs on six hits over 5 IP, taking his third loss of the season.
Darrell Ceciliani and Josh Rodriguez started the Mets offense with back-to-back singles in the first. With one out, Allen Dykstra walked, but Kehrt struck out Rhyne Hughes. The Mets scored the first run on a wild pitch and Travis Taijeron blooped a two-run double down the left-field line.
In the fourth, Richard Lucas nailed a run-scoring double and Ceciliani hit a two-run homer to right field, his sixth of the season.

The Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets (Mets affiliate) conclude their season series on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:05 PM from NYSEG Stadium. RHP Matt Barnes (4-5, 5.32) takes on RHP Erik Goeddel (7-3, 4.23)
