Screaming Eagles Set to Host 11th Annual Irish Theme Jersey Game

March 8, 2017 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Cape Breton Eagles News Release

SYDNEY- On Wednesday, March 15th for their game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles will wear special green Irish themed uniforms, in memory of past president Greg Lynch. The event is being held in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. It marks the eleventh straight season the Screaming Eagles have worn Irish jerseys, the first time being in 2007 against the same Titan, and over the decade worth of games the club has raised over $121, 000 to support the Foundation.

Every year there are 1,200 new diagnoses of cancer in Cape Breton. The Cancer Patient Care Fund is 100% donor funded and exists because of generosity and community support. Funds raised at this years raffle will provide financial assistance to patients with cancer for prescriptions, travel and other medical expenses.

The event is made possible thanks to three community-minded businesses who have donated the green uniforms: Ron May Group, S&M Trucking and Cape Breton Beverages. This allows 100% of all funds raised to go directly to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.

During the game, fans can purchase raffle tickets for their chance to win one of the 22 custom jerseys, one for each Screaming Eagle player. Raffle tickets are $5 each and will be available only at Centre 200. The winning tickets will be drawn during the third period and the winners will join the Screaming Eagles on the ice to collect their jerseys.

In celebration of 10 years of the Irish Jersey Raffle, City Printers has produced a special limited edition set of player cards, featuring a player from each of the prior Irish jersey games. Cards will be available for the first 300 raffle ticket buyers. In addition to the player cards, posters which were available at the 20th anniversary game against Halifax on March 3rd will again be available to fans for free pickup, at the promotions table. Centre 200 will also be providing live Irish theme music in the main concourse prior to the game as well as during both intermissions.

Prior to the Irish theme game against Bathurst, the Screaming Eagles will take to the ice twice this coming weekend at Centre 200, for a pair of games against the Moncton Wildcats. The Irish-theme game will be the final game of the regular season for the Screaming Eagles. Tickets for all three remaining games can be purchased at the Centre 200 box office or online at tickets.capebreton.ca
