Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release

Jamestown, NY- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Jamestown Jammers had to wait a day to finish their Tuesday night game forcing a double header on Wednesday. The Scrappers split the pair with a 5-3 win in game 1and a 7-3 loss in game 2.

Game 1 resumed in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the Scrappers leading 2-0 after 2 RBI singles from Juan Herrera and Josh McAdams in the 1st inning. The Scrappers would add some insurance runs with a 2 run 5th inning. Manuel Boscan singled home both Claudio Bautista and Herrera for a 4-3 advantage. In the 7th inning Boscan would again deliver by driving in Bautista again. Harrold Guerrero worked 2 innings to record his first win of the year.

In game 2 the Scrappers jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 2nd inning. With 2 outs, Ryan Battaglia blasted his first homerun of the season, a solo shot to left. Paul Hendrix then followed with a double and Brian Ruiz walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. With 2 runners in scoring position, Tyler Booth was able to beat out groundball for an infield single to score both Hendrix and Ruiz for a 3-0 lead. The lead was short lived as the Jammers scored 3 of their own in the bottom of the 2nd inning. A 4 run 5th inning by Jamestown was all they needed to drop the Scrappers by a final of 7-3. Caleb Hamrick (1-2) took the loss.

The Scrappers now return home to begin a 3 game homestand with the Williamsport Crosscutters on July 4th. Call the Scrappers box office at 330-505-0000 to get your tickets.
