Evansville Thunderbolts News Release

Evansville, Ind: The Thunderbolts returned to action Saturday in Mississippi against the RiverKings after a solid effort the night prior. Despite going down 4-0, the Bolts would find their way back to tie the game at four aside, before falling 6-4.

Down 4-0 in the second period, Jonah Imoo would enter the game and play lights-out in net, turning away shot after shot. The turning point would come midway through the second period when Sean Reynolds had enough abuse from Jake Schultz and engaged in a scrum in front of the Mississippi net. Awakened by the courage shown by the Evansville rookie, the Thunderbolts took to the ice with a power play and scored to make it a 4-1 game, as Nick Lazorko - from Dave Williams and John Scorcia - would find the back of the net at 8:54. Although the Bolts would get no closer in the second, the period would also see a major tilt between Nick Wright and Pijus Rulevicious, a long-lived fight that would awaken the Bolts further. Out of the gates in the third period, Frank Schumacher would score on a two-on-one at the 1:27 mark from Williams and Scorcia, making it 4-2. John Scorcia would get a breakaway at the RiverKings' blue line and dangle past the goaltender to make it a one-goal game at the 9:00 mark. Finally, Mike Fazio, from Cory Melkert, would complete the comeback, throwing the puck to the net and scoring to make it 4-4 at the 13:15 mark. Unfortunately, the RiverKings would come back with two goals to close the period and win 6-4, but the Thunderbolts displayed a great effort in the second half to make it a close contest.

For Evansville, Scorcia picked up a goal and two assists, goals would be added by Fazio, Schumacher and Lazorko, and Jonah Imoo stopped 20 shots. The Bolts return to home ice against Knoxville on Friday, Feb. 16, with face-off at 7:15 p.m. CST.
