LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders 99-93 Saturday night in a game where six Santa Cruz Warriors players scored in double-digits.
The Santa Cruz Warriors were again led by Taylor Griffin, who logged the only double-double of the night and his third of the season with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Travis Leslie had a team-high 23 points, shooting 10 of 14 from the field and grabbing eight rebounds. Stef Hannah also joined the double-digit scoring club with 14 points and a game-high seven assists, while Moe Baker chipped in with 11 points. Off the bench, Cameron Jones and Justin Johnson each scored in double figures.
Los Angeles was paced by Darius Johnson-Odom, on assignment from the Los Angeles Lakers, who scored a game-high 27 points. Off the bench, Orien Greene scored 25 for the D-Fenders.
After L.A. took an early 2-0 lead, the Santa Cruz Warriors took control by going on an 8-0 run and never looking back for the remainder of the game. Keeping with the defensive theme this road trip, the Warriors held the D-Fenders to 41.2% shooting from the field and out-rebounded L.A. 53-38.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action on Friday, December 14 in Boise to take on the Idaho Stampede at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time in the first of the final two games on the road before the December 23 home opener.
