Santa Cruz Warriors Fall to Mad Ants

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 102-86 Thursday night, snapping the team's five-game winning streak.

The Santa Cruz Warriors were paced by Stefhon Hannah, who was red-hot in the first quarter and scored a game-high 27 points. Travis Leslie notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Taylor Griffin scored 16.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants were led by Orlando Johnson, on assignment from the Indiana Pacers, and Ron Howard, who both scored 25 points. Tony Mitchell logged a double-double with 22 points and 16 boards, while Brandon Wallace grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench in 12 minutes played.

The Warriors shot just 35.8% from the field, while the Mad Ants shot 39.4%. The Mad Ants out-rebounded the Warriors 64-57, and Fort Wayne outscored the Warriors in the paint 54-32. The Warriors led by as much as 12 in the first minutes of the third quarter, but the lead evaporated through the fourth, with the Mad Ants outscoring the Warriors 31-14 in the final period.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will wrap up their series in Fort Wayne on Saturday, January 5, with tip-off set for 4:30 p.m. PST at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
