RENO, Nev. - The Santa Cruz Warriors dropped their first game of the NBA D-League Showcase Tuesday morning, falling to the Austin Toros 96-78.
Santa Cruz was led by Taylor Griffin, who scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Travis Leslie logged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Moe Baker dished out 4 assists.
Austin was paced by Cory Joseph, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, who scored a game-high 21 points. Rick Jackson notched a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Santa Cruz Warriors led by as much as 18 points with one minute left in the first half. The Austin Toros outscored the Warriors 61-25 in the second half, completing a 36-point turnaround to defeat the Warriors by 18. The Warriors out-rebounded the Toros (55-45), but Santa Cruz shot just 31.2% from the field, compared with Austin's 48.1% from the field.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action on Thursday at 12:45 p.m. against the Canton Charge for their final game in the NBA D-League Showcase.
