 Salt Lake Bees

Salt Lake rallies for win

August 3, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Luis Jimenez delivered a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning that put the Bees ahead to stay, as Salt Lake rallied for an 8-5 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Thursday night. The Bees were down 5-4 when Ed Lucas singled with one out. After Lucas stole second base, he advanced to third on an infield single by Trevor Crowe and then scored the tying run on a single to left by Kole Calhoun with Crowe advancing to third and Calhoun to second on the throw. After Hank Conger was intentionally walked, Jimenez lifted an 0-1 pitch deep enough into left field to bring home Crowe with the go-ahead run. Salt Lake would add two insurance runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Matt Long and a run-scoring double by Trevor Crowe.

"Once we started putting together some at-bats and scoring some runs, it got a little contagious for us tonight," said Bees Manager Keith Johnson. "We did a good job, especially after giving up the lead, to come back and get it (the lead) and then add some insurance runs later."

Francisco Rodriguez (2-3) picked up the win with a scoreless top of the seventh inning, Steven Geltz worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Bobby Cassevah gave up one hit, but no runs to earn his sixth save of the season. Lucas led the Bees with four hits, including a triple, and one run batted in, while Cory Aldridge added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Crowe chipped in two hits and one run batted in, as Salt Lake snapped a four-game losing streak at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
