December 3, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Ontario, CA - The Salmon Kings and Reign met for the first time in their organizations histories. Julien Ellis started in net for the Salmon Kings while Jeff Zatkoff got the call for Ontario.

Victoria jumped out first when Wes Goldie notched a power play maker at 3:03 mark of the first period. Ontario would respond with a power play goal of their own when PJ Atherton found a loose puck in the slot area and found the back of the net. Both teams would have chances, but no one was able to convert. It was 1-1 at the end of the first period.

Ontario jumped out quickly when Jon Rheault beat Ellis low to the blocker side for the 2-1 lead at the 59 second mark. Victoria tied the game back up at 2-2 when Dan Gendur fired a shot from the left point on the power play. Dylan Yeo deflected the puck past Zatkoff for the tying goal. The score would remain 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The Reign would take the lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third when Jon Francisco fired a shot low on the blocker side past Ellis. That would be the difference. Reign 3 Salmon Kings 2.

Victoria finished 2/4=50% on the power play, while Ontario finished 1/10=10%. Final shots were 27-20 for the Reign.

The Salmon Kings head upstate to take on Fresno for games on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. before returning to Ontario for the final game of this seven-game road trip on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
