Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are happy to announce that the team's athletic therapist and strength and conditioning coach Dave Zarn has taken the Assistant Athletic Trainer position with the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.

The native of Piney, Manitoba, Zarn has served as the Salmon Kings athletic therapist and strength and conditioning coach for the previous three seasons. Zarn also was a special guest therapist at both the Canucks' training camp in 2007 as well as the Manitoba Moose training camp in 2008.

"Dave has earned this opportunity to move up to the NHL level," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "He was a valuable member of our team and always performed his job with the highest level of professionalism and skill. We wish him the best of luck."

Zarn is the first member of the Salmon King family to move to a full time position with an NHL team. Former Salmon King netminder Rob McVicar served as the Canucks' back-up goalie for one game on December 9, 2005.

Prior to working with the Salmon Kings, Dave was the athletic therapist and strength and conditioning coach for the Okanagan Academy and Hockey School. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Manitoba and an Athletic Therapy Certificate from the University of Winnipeg prior to beginning his career.
