St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The Saints are about to begin their longest homestand in over a month, but don't get so excited that you injure yourself celebrating or you may need to make a trip to the hospital. We aren't attempting to con you, there are sure to be six days of incredible fun, including a visit from a group of baseball's elite. Grab your family and prepare a nice vacation to Midway Stadium before time runs out. There is still time to grab a seat with a great view of the game. If that isn't enough, come take a closer look at the animals flying in the sky like planes or our famous trains.

The Saints commence the six game homestand by welcoming the Gary SouthShore RailCats to town for three games beginning on Friday, July 26 at 7:05 p.m. This far along into the season nobody would blame you for having a few bumps and bruises, but no worries, there will be plenty of people qualified to take care of you in attendance. Not even a truckload of apples would be enough to keep the doctors away on this day as they will be everywhere inside Midway Stadium on Take Me to Regions Night presented by Regions Hospital. We don't need to have a surgeon's precision to guess that there will be more people who wear gloves for a profession inside the ballpark than ever before. To make sure this trip to the hospital isn't a bad experience Regions Hospital will be passing out glow in the dark cups to all. Those cups will provide quite the spectacle after the game when all of the lights go out for the post-game fireworks show from Xcel Energy.

Don't believe everything you see and hear at the ball game on Saturday, July 27 because it will be a night dedicated to Good Eggs and Scams (Part II) brought to you by the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota. The Better Business Bureau will be passing out eggs near the entrance, some of which will give fans the chance to win great prizes. Do you believe that wearing a certain shoe will make you a better basketball player or that Listerine can cure any ailment? If you do then you will surely enjoy our tribute to misleading print ads and television commercials throughout the evening. Although it may sound too good to be true, we can guarantee that everybody in attendance will have the opportunity to enter to win up to $77,777 on a St. Croix Casino Big Money $aturday.

On Sunday, July 28 at 1:05 p.m. the Saints will be fortunate enough to welcome a group of individuals that persevered through an era filled with scandal in the sporting world to receive the highest honor in the sport of baseball. Midway Stadium will host the entire Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2013 in what is sure to be an unbelievable afternoon. Making the day more special is the fact that this group of legends has received more notoriety than any other class in more than 15 years. Also, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a St. Paul Saints card set featuring current players, select members of the entertainment team, the 2013 Hall of Fame class, and a special Caleb Thielbar/Brandon Kintzler card. After the game kids can run the bases and get autographs from the entire team on a Savers Family Sunday.

The Saints will welcome division rival Fargo-Moorhead to town for another three game series beginning on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:05 p.m. Pack everyone in the vehicle and road trip down to Energy Park Drive as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of National Lampoon's Vacation. No need to try and go to an amusement park, we have more than enough fun and games to keep you entertained on and off the field. If you find yourself getting hungry as the Saints try to Chevy Chase the RedHawks off the field, swing by our always delicious concession stands. Unfortunately, we can't promise any hamburger helper, but there will be plenty of real tomato ketchup available at the condiment table. If you find your stomach is growling prior to the game, consider yourself lucky, because there will be some of the best street food in the area with Home Street Home, Tollefson Family Grill and Bacon Trolleyavailable in the parking lot on a Food Truck Tuesday.

If you spend enough of the summertime around Midway Stadium you are aware that there are many different species of fowl present in close vicinity to the field. From pigeons to hawks to sparrows we will acknowledge them all on Big Bird Watcher Day at Midway, beginning at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31. Make sure to bring along a pair of binoculars so you won't miss anything on the field or any of our feathered friends in the sky. The Saints pitching staff will try to play the part of an owl and scare the RedHawks away from home plate all day long. Prior to the game make sure to flap your wings on over to the craziest tailgate party in town featuring free hot dogs and water on a Walser Wednesday.

We hope you are still on board when the homestand reaches its final stop on Thursday, August 1 as the Saints celebrate 50 years of Petticoat Junction with the help of Union Depot. Saints fans are on track for yet another great giveaway as Union Depot will be handing out special St. Paul Saints themed conductor hats. Children are sure to enjoy an appearance by members of the Choo Choo Bob television show, a St. Paul based children's show based on trains, friends, and fun. For the adults, enjoy small-batch beer at special prices a Brew Pub Pizza Craft Beer Thursday.

There are clearly plenty of things to look out for during the Saints upcoming six game homestand. We obviously want you to keep an eye on your health so that we don't have to make any unplanned trips to the hospital, but at the same time be on the lookout for deals that sound a little bit too sweet. Keep your eyes peeled for baseball royalty and hope that your family outing goes more smoothly than that of the Griswold's. If you are lucky enough, the constant sounding of the train whistle may stir up some big birds and give you a once in a lifetime look at them. July counts down and August gets started all while the American Association playoff race begins, with the Saints right in the middle of it all.
