Sadzeck guides Frisco to sweep of San Antonio

San Antonio Missions News Release

Seven impressive innings by right-hander Connor Sadzeck steered Frisco to a 6-1 win and series sweep of San Antonio before 4, 816 Friday night at Wolff Stadium.

Just as they had done in the previous three games of the series, the RoughRiders took an early lead Friday. In the top of the second, after Ronald Guzman worked a one-out walk against starter Luis Diaz, Zach Cone followed with a home run onto the berm in left. It was Cone's fourth dinger of the season.

San Antonio got one back against Sadzeck in the fourth when Nick Torres doubled, then came into score on a Mike Olt single up the middle.

In the top of the fifth, the 'Riders answered right back, extending their lead to 4-1 with Garrett Weber's two-run single off Diaz (2-3).

Two innings later, Frisco put together its third and final two-run rally of the night, this time courtesy of Lewis Brinson's two-RBI double down the right-field line off reliever Kyle Lloyd.

The six runs of support were more than enough for Sadzeck (4-0), who allowed just two hits and three walks, while striking out a season-high nine. Sadzeck threw 62 of his 95 pitches for strikes.

The bullpen duo of Ryne Slack and Cody Palmquist followed Sadzeck with scoreless frames to close out Frisco's second sweep of San Antonio in as many weeks. The RoughRiders (21-6) have now won 11 straight games against the Missions.

San Antonio (9-19) hits the road Saturday to open up a four-game series against Corpus Christi (13-14) at Whataburger Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Bryan Rodriguez (2-1, 3.54) will get the ball for the Missions, while the Hooks counter with fellow righty Keegan Yuhl (0-1, 3.97).
