 El Paso Chihuahuas

Sacramento wins over El Paso

June 18, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

Travis Ishikawa's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 11th inning gave the Sacramento River Cats a 5-4 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas in the first game of a four-game series Friday at Raley Field. It was the first extra-inning loss for the Chihuahuas in five tries this season.

El Paso starter Daniel McCutchen pitched five perfect innings to begin the game and was ahead 4-0 because of an early RBI double by Casey McElroy and three-run home run by Hunter Renfroe. Sacramento scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to get within one, then tied the game when Mac Williamson hit a solo home run to left-center field with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Chihuahuas had three extra base hits Friday and now have slugged extra base hits in 60 consecutive games. McCutchen has allowed only four earned runs in his last 31 innings. Renfroe nearly had two home runs on Friday but Williamson leaped at the wall to pull back a ball hit by Renfroe that would have landed in the right field bullpen.
