This is the third and final match between Republic FC and Whitecaps FC 2 this season. Vancouver won the last matchup 2-1 on July 24 and the two sides battled to a scoreless draw in the first matchup on Apr. 10. Since their loss to WFC2 on July 24, Republic FC have been unbeaten, going 4-0-2 and outscoring their opponents 11-4. Republic FC lead the all-time series 2-1-1.

Republic FC are unbeaten in their last six matches and are on a three-match win streak. The club won their midweek match against Orange County Blues FC on Wednesday night. Forward Cameron Iwasa scored the lone goal in the match, a 76th minute strike.

The goal was Iwasa's club-leading eleventh on the season, tying Thomas Stewart's club record for most goals in a single season. Iwasa has scored in each of the last three matches, the second Republic FC player to record that feat this season. Mike da Fonte scored goals in consecutive matches from July 2-10.

Goalkeeper Evan Newton and the Republic FC defense recorded their second consecutive shutout against the Blues. The defense has recorded four shutouts since Newton became the starting goalkeeper on July 10. The shutout was the team's tenth of the season, the most by Republic FC in a single season.

The match has a lot of playoff implications as the USL heads into the final weeks of the season. A total of four points separates Republic FC, who currently lead the USL Western Conference with 43 points, and Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, whose 39 points is fourth in the Western Conference. WFC2 and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are tied for second with 40 points. With a win on Saturday, Republic FC could put more points between themselves and the rest of top four with just under a month to go in the season. Switchbacks FC and Rio Grande Valley also meet this weekend in a top four clash.

WFC2 come into the match after a 3-1 victory over Arizona United SC on Aug. 21. Arizona led most of the match, scoring in the 17th minute, but Vancouver came roaring back, scoring three goals in the final six minutes.

Forward Thomas Sanner scored all three goals against Arizona after coming on as a substitute in the 60th minute. Sanner scored his first professional goal, a stoppage time winner, against Republic FC on July 24. He has four goals on the season.

Kyle Greig and Daniel Haber have been the leaders of a WFC 2 offense that has scored 39 goals this season, second-most in the Western Conference. Greig has recorded 10 goals and two assists, while Haber has added seven goals and four assists. Greig and Haber, both in their first season with WFC2, account for 23 of the club's 39 goals.

The match will be aired live on Sports 1140 KHTK and streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday and YouTube.com/USL. Updates of the match will be provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC or using #SACvVAN. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
