Blackwood's goal was his second of the season. The forward scored three minutes into stoppage time which is tied for the second latest goal in Republic FC history, trailing Chad Bartlomé's goal four minutes into stoppage against Arizona United SC (now Phoenix Rising FC) on Jun. 7, 2014.

Midfielder Danny Barrera recorded the assist on Caesar's goal, his third assist on the season and his second in as many matches. The assist was Barrera's 15th in USL play as a member of Republic FC, the most of any Republic FC player.

Reno enter the match on a five-match USL unbeaten streak. During the streak Reno have outscored their opponents 19-5, including two 4-0 wins and a 6-0 win. Prior to their five-match unbeaten streak Reno went 0-3-1 and had been outscored 4-12.
