Sacramento Republic FC News Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC have agreed to a USL contract with forward Cameron Iwasa for the 2018 season, with a club option for the 2019 season, pending league and federation approval.

"Cameron is a player who needs no introduction to our fans, coaches and staff," said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. "I thoroughly enjoyed working with Cameron during his previous tenure with the club, and we saw the results on the pitch through his record goal scoring season and our placement at the top of the table. I am delighted to have him back and see what he can do this time around at Republic FC."

Iwasa will return to Republic FC for his third season with the club. He scored 13 USL goals and added four assists in two seasons with Republic FC, including a club-leading 12 goals in 2016. He was named to the USL All-League Second Team for his record-setting season in 2016, and he is the third-leading scorer in Republic FC history. In 2017, Iwasa scored two goals and added an assist in 22 appearances while on loan from Sporting KC to its USL affiliate, Swope Park Rangers.

The forward is a Sacramento native and graduate of Jesuit High School in Carmichael. He was the 65th overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by the Montreal Impact, but was not signed, opting instead to sign with Republic FC on Mar. 20, 2015. Iwasa had a successful four-year collegiate career with UC Irvine, scoring 22 goals and recording 14 assists in 85 career matches.
