Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Black Hawks have added veteran defenseman Jake Ryczek after concluding a trade with the Sioux City Musketeers, the team announced Friday.

In exchange for the 17-year-old from Ludlow, Massachusetts, the Musketeers have acquired defenseman Tony Stillwell from Waterloo.

NHL Central Scouting listed Ryczek 116th among North American skaters eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft this summer. He is currently spending his second season in the United States Hockey League. As a rookie in 2014/15, Ryczek helped the Musketeers to the regular season Western Conference title, appearing in 55 regular season games with six goals and a dozen assists. With 29 appearances so far this season, the Providence College recruit is on pace to surpass his first-year scoring total, with 14 points already to his credit. Ryczek appeared during the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Omaha last month, taking the ice with new Waterloo teammate Garrett Wait.

Stillwell was acquired from the Madison Capitols just prior to the beginning of the current season. The Wisconsin recruit played in 35 games for the Hawks, making several appearances as a forward while Waterloo's lineup was limited by injuries. Stillwell notched a goal and five assists for the Hawks.

Ryczek's first opportunity to skate in red and black will be this weekend as Waterloo faces the Dubuque Fighting Saints. The two Dupaco Cowbell Cup rivals will meet in Dubuque Friday, then get together for a rematch in Waterloo on Saturday. Tickets for the weekend home game and all 2015/16 matchups are available from the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office and online from waterlooblackhawks.com.
