Royals Upend Oil Kings

Edmonton, AB- The Victoria Royals dropped the Edmonton Oil Kings 6-1 as Matthew Phillips (3g-1a) and Tyler Soy (1g-3a) paced the team offensively with four points each to cap off the club's six-game road trip.
Victoria completed their season-long road trip with a 4-2-0-0 record and will return home on Tuesday, October 18th to face the Saskatoon Blades.
The Royals' Phillips opened the game's scoring in the first period and would complete the hat-trick with two goals on the powerplay in the middle frame. This marked Phillips' second career WHL hat-trick, with the other coming against Edmonton on November 18, 2015. Victoria's Soy recorded the game winner in the opening period to go with along with three assists on the night. Jack Walker and Regan Nagy scored the Royals' other goals in the third frame.
The Oil Kings' lone marker was tallied by Tyler Robertson in the final stanza.
Victoria registered three goals on the powerplay through the contest and held a 3/742.9% mark. Edmonton went 1/425.0% on the man-advantage.
Royals' goaltender Griffen Outhouse was sharp throughout the contest as he stopped 39 of the 40 shots he faced. Edmonton's netminder Patrick Dea made 36 saves on the 42 pucks directed his way.
In the win, four players continued their scoring streaks. Dante Hannoun's assist tonight bumps him up to six points (1g-5a) in his last six games. Phillips has now recorded five goals and two assists in his past four games. Jared Dmytriw, with an assist, has amassed four points (3g-1a) in his past four contests. With two points (1g-1a), Walker stretched his point streak to three games where he has collected five points (2g-3a).
Victoria returns to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Tuesday, October 18th to begin a three-game homestand against the Saskatoon Blades. Victoria will then play the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, October 21st for Country Night, and the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, October 22nd on Marty the Marmot's birthday.
