Royals look to beat Adirondack for third straight game

Reading, PA - Before indulging in a Thanksgiving break, the Reading Royals (7-5-1-0, 15 pts., T-5th North) host the Adirondack Thunder (9-5-1-1, 20 pts., T-1st North) Tuesday at 7 p.m. Meet the players after the game with special postgame autographs, brought to you by Rieck's Printing. Tickets are available here.

Reading returns to the United States after going 1-2-0-0 on the road last week. Sunday at Brampton, Alex Krushelnyski scored twice in a 5-4-0-0 loss.

The Royals are 2-0-0-0 against the Thunder this season, both victories at home. Reading is the only undefeated team at home this season, boasting a 5-0-0-0 record. Two more victories at Santander Arena matches the Royals' best home start ever (7-0-0-0, 2005-06).

Reading plays its next three games against the Thunder. The Royals are home on Black Friday, Nov. 24, for another game against Adirondack. It's Penny Days, where select Royals items will be on sale as "buy one, get one for a penny" (details forthcoming). Also, it's a PA lottery voucher giveaway game to the first 2,500 fans 18+.

Home Appreciation

The Royals are 5-0-0-0 at Santander Arena and outscoring opponents 25-13. Last home game, the Royals hung five goals against Jacksonville in a 5-1 victory. Prior to that, Reading ripped Adirondack for nine goals (9-4 W), the second-highest total in team history.

Goaltender John Muse is 3-0-0-0 at home this season and has allowed six goals. Alex Krushelnyski tops Reading with four goals at home. Matt Willows has seven points (3g) in five home contests.

Comrie Watch

Adam Comrie remains one point away from matching Simon Tremblay's mark for points by a Royals defenseman (86).

Tremblay and Comrie have each played in 111 games for the Royals. Comrie has 39 goals, most ever for a Reading defenseman.

Swavely heating up

Reading native Steven Swavely is on a four-game point streak (3g, 3a) and scored Sunday at Brampton. Swavely has scored in consecutive games and has two multi-point games during the hot stretch. As a rookie last season, Swavely ripped 18 goals and 39 points in 40 games. He has four goals and eight points in 11 games.

Adirondack miles

The Thunder are in game 11 of a season-long 12-game road trip, accruing a 6-3-1-0 record on the trip. Adirondack hasn't played a home game since Oct. 28, when the team lost to Toledo. The next day, the Thunder started the road trip and the Royals won, 9-4.

The team made it to Glens Falls, NY after their last game against Manchester. It was the first time since Oct. 30 the players got to sleep in their own beds.

The road trip has taken the team to nine different ECHL cities for games against Fort Wayne, Cincinnati, Quad City, Kalamazoo (x2), Brampton, Wheeling, Norfolk, Manchester and Reading (x3).

Adirondack has ventured approximately 4,000 miles on the trip, the distance of two round trips from Santander Arena to Disney World.

The Royals' longest road trip of the season is eight games (late February - early March).

Head-to-head

Reading has taken the first two season-series meetings. The Royals won the first game of the season vs. the Thunder in OT, 5-4. On Oct. 29, Reading bested Adirondack, 9-4, in the last matchup.

Ryan Penny recorded his first professional hat trick against Adirondack last time, completing the trick with 7:56 to go. The nine-goal output was the second-highest in club history, one short of the record in 2002-03 vs. Greensboro. Eight players had multi-point games and 15 recorded points. John Muse made a season-high 41 saves and added an assist.
