Kelowna, BC - The Victoria Royals were downed 5-4 by the Kelowna Rockets in an afternoon contest on Family Day as Matthew Phillips set the Royals' single season points record and extended his franchise-long point streak.

Notes:

Fantastic Philly - With a penalty shot goal and an assist, Royals' Captain Matthew Phillips (42g-51a) passed alumnus Alex Forsberg (2015-16) to set the new Victoria record for most points in a single season with 93. The franchise record is held by former Chilliwack Bruin Mark Santorelli who played in 72 contests in 2007-08 and tallied 101 points (27g-74a).

Red Hot Royals - Multiple Royals' skaters stretched their point streaks today. Phillips set the new franchise record for longest point streak at 18 games and has registered a total of 34 points (14g-20a). Tyler Soy, who was named the WHL Player of the Week today, has tallied 13 points (6g-7a) in his last six contests. Tanner Kaspick (2g-5a) and Noah Gregor (2g-3a) have also found the score sheet in their past three games.

Season Series - This long weekend saw the Royals and Rockets conclude their season series. With today's loss and wins on Friday and Saturday, Victoria finished their eight-game series with Kelowna with a 4-3-0-1 record. The Royals have outscored Kelowna 34-29.

Goals Galore - Victoria has managed to tally four or more goals in 16 of their previous 18 games. In those 18 contests, the club holds a record of 13-5-0-0 and have averaged 4.38 goals per game.

Kelowna Kids - The Royals' Mitchell Prowse and Ralph Jarratt both suited up against their hometown team today as the rearguards both call Kelowna home.
