Royals Caravan Coming to Omaha's Ultimate Baseball Academy

OMAHA, Neb. - The Kansas City Royals Caravan is arriving in Omaha on Thursday, January 17 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Ultimate Baseball Academy. This year's stop features a star-studded lineup of Royals headlined by 2012 All-Star Billy Butler and Royals Hall of Famer John Mayberry.

Butler had a career year statistically in 2012 to earn his first Silver Slugger Award, and along with Mayberry he will be joined by Royals Pitcher of the Year Greg Holland and recent Storm Chasers standout second baseman Johnny Giavotella. Butler, Holland and Giavotella have all spent parts of multiple seasons with either the Omaha Royals or the Storm Chasers. It will be Butler and Holland's first ever appearance at the Royals Caravan's Omaha stop.

The event will be emceed by Joel Goldberg, host of the Royals pre-game and post-game show on Fox Sports, and will feature a question and answer session as well as the opportunity for fans to get an autograph from the players (as time allows).

Valentino's Pizza and Pepsi products will be provided free of charge, and kids will be able to play in one of the Storm Chasers' bounce houses. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase Storm Chasers ticket packages, select merchandise, and memberships to the Lil' Chasers Club presented by Huerter Orthodontics and the Silver Chasers Club presented by Silver Ridge Assisted Living.

The Ultimate Baseball Academy is located at 4225 South 121st Plaza. The facility covers more than 55,000 square feet and features 24 training tunnels, five pitching machines and an indoor turf field.

Throughout the Caravan, the Royals join the USO chapters of Ft. Riley and Missouri to collect items for military members serving oversees and returning from service. Bring your donations of items to support soldiers including washcloths, individually wrapped toothbrushes, beef jerky, drink packets (that you add to bottled water) and pudding cups. In addition, children and adults can bring or make hand-written "Thank You" cards for troops at our Caravan stops. Royals Charities will donate $1 to the USO for every card collected during Caravan stops up to $10,000.
