Royals and Miller-Keystone Join Forces to Help Fans Give Blood

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Miller-Keystone Blood Center today jointly announced that the Royals will host blood drives as part of the game night activities for three Royals' games this season. The Miller-Keystone Blood Mobile will set up in front of the Sovereign Center for the three game nights, and the first twenty-five fans participating in the blood drive at each game will earn an 'I Bleed Purple' t-shirt courtesy of Graber Letterin'.

It is important to note that the blood drives will be held from 3:30 - 6:30 pm on the relevant game nights so that fans who participate won't miss any of the hockey action.

The first game night blood drive will be held on Saturday, October 26, when the Royals host Breast Cancer Awareness Night and take on the Elmira Jackals at 7:05 pm. The second game night blood drive will be on Saturday, January 18, 2014, when the Royals will wear special Penn State-styled jerseys and raise money for THON, the largest student run philanthropy in the world, which is dedicated to eradicating childhood cancer. That night, the Royals will face-off against the Toledo Walleye at 7:05 pm. The third blood drive of the season will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014, when the Royals will host American Cancer Society Night and take on the Kalamazoo Wings (7:05 pm).

Established in 1971, Miller-Keystone Blood Center is an independent, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) community organization that serves as the only blood provider to twenty-seven hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Lehigh, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon and Warren (NJ) counties. MKBC delivers quality products and services and provides their employees with the necessary training and resources to meet or exceed customer requirements. The Royals kick off the defense of the team's 2013 Kelly Cup Championship on Saturday, October 19, 2013, (7:35 pm), at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, with the 2013-14 season opener against the South Carolina Stingrays.
