Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors could not muster up a comeback against the Florida Everblades and fell by a score of 5-2.
Brody Sutter scored the first goal of the game just 3:32 into the first period. Leigh Salters fed Sutter from behind the net to score his eighth goal of the year. In the closing minutes of the period, Mathieu Roy scored on a goal similar to Sutter's. After a brief review, the goal was allowed as Roy tallied his 20th of the year. Florida took a 2-0 lead into the second period.
Chad Ziegler opened the scoring in the second period to bring the game to a 2-1 score. Ziegler scored his fourth of the year and in the third straight game on a rebound goal. The one goal lead did not last long as Florida's two goal lead returned in the hand of Roy. The Florida captain broke into the Road Warriors' zone and beat Connor Knapp low glove side for a 3-1 Florida lead. 1:55 seconds later Roy completed the hat trick with a goal right after the face-off. Later in the period, Jordie Johnston created a shorthanded breakaway opportunity where he was taken down. This play awarded Johnston a penalty shot which the rookie forward converted for his 14th of the year. Florida took a 4-2 lead into the third period.
Greenville started out the third period with a few chances early but Florida fired back with 15 shots during the course of the final frame. Matt Auffrey scored in the closing seconds with an empty net goal to seal the 5-2 victory. Knapp took the loss with 32 saves. Rob Madore was the winning goalie with 32 saves.
