Round Rock Races Past Salt Lake 11-3 Express 3B Luis Marte Finished Homer Shy of the Cycle ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (19-26) capped off a series victory over the Salt Lake Bees (25-20) with a dominant 11-3 win in Monday night's finale. E-Train 3B Luis Marte finished a home run shy of the cycle in the win. Round Rock RHP Eddie Gamboa (3-4, 7.09) was solid in 5.1 innings of work. The knuckleballer allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three. Salt Lake starter RHP Greg Mahle (2-2, 7.85) suffered the loss after a performance in which he gave up three runs on four hits in just 1.2 innings on the hill. For the third night in a row, the Express scored in the second inning. 1B Ronald Guzman kicked off the early rally with a single before scoring on a Travis Snider double two hitters later. After RF Preston Beck worked a walk, Marte doubled to send Snider to the plate. 2B Jason Martinson then manufactured his second walk of the evening, sending Mahle to the showers. RHP Drew Gagnon entered in relief, hitting SS Jurickson Profar with his first pitch of the game to give the E-Train a 3-0 lead. Round Rock blew the game wide open thanks to a five-run fifth inning. LF Drew Stubbs worked a one-out walk before RF Preston Beck collected a free pass two hitters later. Marte continued his hot night with an RBI two-run single. Robinson then doubled home Marte before Martinson collected his third walk of the night. Profar rounded out the big inning with a two-run double to right field, extending his team's lead to 8-0. Salt Lake broke a 15-inning scoreless drought with a pair of runs in the sixth. CF Eric Young, Jr. recorded a leadoff single before back-to-back wild pitches moved the outfielder to third. After a Rey Navarro walk, Gamboa recorded his third wild pitch of the frame, allowing the speedy Young to race home while Navarro took second. An ensuing Kaleb Cowart RBI single doubled the Bees run total. The Express picked those runs right back up in the bottom of the frame. Guzman walked, Stubbs singled, then Snider grounded into a fielder's choice that eliminated Stubbs at second. A Beck sacrifice fly sent Guzman trotting home with run number nine. Marte inched closer to the cycle with a triple that extended the lead to 10-2. With Salt Lake C Angel Genao on to pitch the eighth inning, Robinson walked, Martinson singled and Profar doubled to extend the Round Rock advantage to 11-2. The Bees tacked on one more run in the ninth off E-Train reliever LHP Frank Lopez. RF Ramon Flores reached on a fielding error by Marte, before moving around the bases on a pair of groundouts. The outfielder trotted home on a Young single to make it 11-3. The Round Rock Express now welcome the Las Vegas 51s to Dell Diamond for a four-game series. Rehabbing Texas Rangers RHP Tyson Ross is scheduled to face off against rehabbing New York Mets LHP Steven Matz.
